Installing heavy-duty sports equipment isn’t just about bolting a backboard to a wall or dropping a goalpost onto a pitch. Whether it is a motorized ceiling-mounted basketball unit or a set of GAA posts, safety and structural integrity must be the absolute top priorities.
Indoor Hall Installations: Do You Have the Support? Before we even begin fabrication for an indoor sports hall, a thorough structural assessment is mandatory. The forces exerted during a basketball game are immense.
Wall-Mounted Units: A side-folding or fixed wall-mounted basketball goal requires a host wall capable of supporting a staggering load of 200 kg on a 4-meter cantilever arm.
Ceiling-Mounted Units: Motorised ceiling goals weigh between 250 kg and 375 kg. This weight must be safely distributed across multiple main roof supporting members. Furthermore, the installation area must be strictly clear of radiant heating panels, conduits, and light fittings.
Outdoor Goalpost Safety Tragic accidents involving unsecured goalposts are entirely preventable. SP Sports strictly adheres to NSAI Goalpost Safety Standards (IS 356, IS 357, IS EN 748). We cannot stress enough that all goalposts—even portable ones—must be securely anchored or weighted down to prevent overturning.
The SP Sports Approach We recommend that equipment installation and court line marking are handled by the same supplier. This ensures your line markings perfectly align with your safely anchored, flush-mounted equipment.
