Sports Installations

SP Sports designs, manufactures to order, and installs heavy-duty sports equipment. Because of the weight and forces involved, indoor installations require specific structural assessments and site visits before fabrication begins.

Indoor Basketball Systems (Wall & Ceiling Mounted)

• Wall-Mounted Goals: For side-folding or fixed wall-mounted systems, the host wall must be structurally strong enough to support a load of 200 kg on a 4-meter cantilever arm.

• Ceiling-Mounted (Motorised) Goals: These units weigh between 250 kg and 375 kg. The ceiling structure must allow this weight to be distributed across 2 or 3 main roof supporting members.

• Clearance: The wall or ceiling area must be completely free of pipes, conduits, light fittings, and radiant heating panels to allow for a safe, flush installation.

Floor Anchoring & Line Marking

• Floor anchors for equipment (like 5-a-side football or competition volleyball) must be installed carefully. In concrete floors, they prefer to install anchors before the final floor covering is laid. For timber, they install them flush or slightly below the surface with a cover.

• SP Sports stresses that equipment installation and court line marking should be done by the same supplier to ensure the court lines match the fixed equipment perfectly.

Basketball Units

They supply everything from junior practice boards to full FIBA-approved setups:

• Competition Acrylic Wall Mounted: Made to suit the specific hall, featuring 12mm acrylic backboards (1800 x 1050), safety padding, and spring-loaded Sure Shot rings. These safely fold back against the wall when not in use.

• Mobile & In-Ground Posts: Outdoor heavy-duty galvanized steel systems (like the Sure Shot Euro Court and Gladiator series) that can be bolted into concrete.

MUGA (Multi-Use Games Area) Combination Goals

For outdoor school yards and community spaces, they offer combined Football and Basketball goal units.

• Construction: Manufactured from heavy-duty 90mm galvanized steel, then powder-coated.

• Dimensions: The football goal is Futsal size (3m wide x 2m high), and the basketball ring can be set at 8.5 feet for juniors or 10 feet for seniors.

• Guarantee: These custom-sized units carry a 20-year structural guarantee when installed directly by SP Sports.

Goal Posts (Football, Rugby, GAA)

• Multi-Sport Steel Goals: Zinc-coated steel frames designed for Gaelic Football, Rugby, Hurling, and Soccer (e.g., Precision 10ft x 12ft models with extension posts).

• Safety Compliance: SP Sports strictly adheres to NSAI Goalpost Safety Standards (IS 356, IS 357, IS EN 748). They emphasize that all goalposts, even portable ones, must be securely anchored or weighted down to prevent overturning.
